Our Key Milestones in
Building Joyful Spaces
1984
SEMEC, short for Sports Equipment Manufacturing & Engineering Company, began with metal sports equipment like soccer posts before evolving into outdoor fitness solutions with many milestones achieved!
1989
SEMEC led the way in creating locally made wooden playgrounds with fiberglass slides, kickstarting Singapore’s playground industry to create innovative play spaces for communities.
1994
As the playground industry grew, SEMEC began building innovative play spaces for Singapore’s communities, partnering with ‘Park Structures’ to import and distribute USA-made play equipment to the Singapore market.
2009
SEMEC achieved its first term contract with NParks to deliver outdoor play and fitness installations across various Singapore locations — a major step forward in strengthening our footprint in community spaces.
2012
SEMEC expanded its product range, becoming the first in Singapore to introduce hydraulic outdoor fitness equipment. This innovative feature lets users adjust resistance to suit their individual strength levels.
2015
SEMEC embraced the growing demand for innovative, customized playgrounds, launching ‘Circle Green’ in Admiralty, our first custom play area featuring immersive designs that promote inclusive play and community connection.
2017
SEMEC took on the Admiralty Park playground — home to 26 exciting slides, the highest number in any local park — along with inclusive play features designed for all generations to enjoy together.
2018
SEMEC ventured into outdoor urban landscape through a partnership with Mmcité, introducing contemporary, resilient, and thoughtfully designed street furniture that elevates the comfort and aesthetics of shared outdoor environments.
2019
SEMEC also delivered the landmark Coastal PlayGrove playground, situated on the former Big Splash site, now standing as Singapore’s tallest outdoor play structure at 16 meters, complete with challenging net climbs and the country’s highest outdoor slide.
2024
SEMEC marks 40 years in the playground industry, having successfully designed and built over 10,000 playgrounds and fitness areas across Singapore, creating spaces for fun, fitness, and community.

Pragadeesh ensures a secure, healthy environment by identifying hazards, implementing practical solutions, and educating others, fostering a safer, happier workplace for all.
Nadi specializes in project management strategies and on-site execution, ensuring deliverables stay on track and meet high-quality standards with precision and efficiency.
As an admin executive, she handles procurement and ensures timely delivery of equipment, keeping everything on track. After work, she winds down by playing phone games to relax.
Chen Jie helps turn design concepts into safe, practical realities ready for play. Off the clock, he’s a toy collector and enjoys quality time with his sausage dog.
